At Notre École de Musique, students discover the joy of music through a program inspired by the French Conservatory tradition.

We provide lessons in a rigorous, yet joyful manner.

Ages 4-7: Musical Garden. 1 hour per week in group instruction (max 10 children)
Age 7 and above: three 4-year cycles of
advancement based on exams and performance. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend lessons. Other instruments are available for rent through non-affiliated NEdM partners.

All of NEdM's teachers are internationally acclaimed performing educators who are passionate about teaching young people the wonders of music.

Piano students will learn and play on Steinway B Hamburg and Bösendorfer 225 concert grand pianos.

Our warm and inviting conservatory space is conveniently located near many local elementary schools..

A not-for-profit organization offering scholarships in Turkey and France. In the USA, private music lessons are given to underserved children and teens in the Chicago area.

Ayse Celasun founded Notre École de Musique in 2014; in 2020 the school was moved to Chicago's North Center neighborhood from the famous Fine Arts building downtown.

A native of Istanbul, Ayse began her music studies at the age of 5. After high school she moved to Paris with a scholarship to the École Normale de Musique, in the class of Germaine Mounier. Having obtained the Higher Diploma, together with a degree in musicology from the University of Paris VIII, she began teaching while playing professionally across Europe. At the time of her move to Chicago, Ayse was a tenured Assistant Professor at the Conservatoire National de Musique in Créteil, France

ABOUT US

Founded in 2014, Notre École de Musique (NEdM) provides a rigorous yet joyful learning experience through a four-level curriculum.

Alongside private lessons, students take weekly group Theory/Solfège classes and engage in Chamber music, fostering both technical mastery and the joy of collaborative performance.

NEdM offers year-round private lessons in 30, 45, and 60-minute sessions, along with group classes for children and adults. We begin with a complimentary 30-minute lesson to ensure the right fit between the teacher and class length.
