Lydia Nance - Bassoon

Lydia Nance is a bassoonist, chamber musician, and music educator in Chicago, IL. She performs with her woodwind trio, The Bells and Whistles and teaches in a variety of settings: the classroom, chamber music, and private lessons.

She received her Teaching Licensure at Northeastern Illinois University, where she will also earn her Master’s in Applied Pedagogy. Currently, she studies bassoon with Matthew Hogan. She previously studied at Vanderbilt University for the degree of Bachelor of Music in bassoon performance under the tutelage of Peter Kolkay.

Her other teachers have included the late Hunter Thomas, of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and Gil Perel of the Nashville Symphony. She has performed with The Jackson Symphony (TN) and the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra (AL.) and has participated in the Birch Creek Music Festival and Sewage Summer Music Festival. She has dedicated much of her music career to teaching young musicians and performing in chamber settings.
